Narcissism is a word generally used as an insult, but it describes a tendency in all of us which we probably spend most of our lives trying to modify and civilise so that we can live and work productively with other people.
Those people who have very strong narcissistic traits often create enormous problems of psychological development for their children and its the children who present as clients to therapists.
This workshop first of all clarifies the genesis of narcissism and describes its different forms. It continues to describe the risks to the child’s development of having a narcissistic parent and it then offers strategies for working with this client group.
